我們註冊吧!Our R.O.M. 300110

Chinese believe that year 2010 is not suitable for marry. This is because 2010 is the year of Tiger which people believe is the Year of Widow. Chinese is very ‘pantang’ when heard the word ‘widow’. well, I am Chinese and of course we will try not to get married on 2010 although initially our plan is to tied our knot on 10 October 2010 (101010).Such a memorable date, too bad we cannot have it!

Our R.O.M is similar to our engagement - planned at last minute! Oops, it seems like we still didn’t manage to gain experience from our engagement previously. I admit both of us are not that ‘kancheong’ about our big matter. All this while people who ‘kancheong’ are Leonard’s parents and my parents. One day, I received a call from mama saying that year 2010 is not good for marry, so if we planned to get married on 10 October 2010, we need to think twice. Leonard conveyed this message to his mum and she suggested that why don’t we register before the Tiger year and after that we can organize our customary wedding whenever we want.

Honestly speaking, I was quite nervous when I heard this. I think I have such feeling due to I never prepare for it mentally. But this does not mean that I don’t love him, please don’t misunderstand me!

One more month to go to Chinese New Year and yet we haven’t finalize the date for our R.O.M. As we have decided to register at our hometown Kuching, so we have to book the air ticket first. The only available date that is convenient for both us to go home without taking any annual leave is 30 Jan 2010 and this is the main reason why our R.O.M fall on 30 Jan 2010.

As usual, shopping is the most important phase of preparation! I know what Leonard will comment when he read this statement. “Claire is always taking advantage of any big or small occasions for her to convince me to buy her a dress.” Am I right, Darling?

Well, a white color or silver color dress is a must for every bride-to-be on their R.O.M. and I bought a lovely Daniel Yam silver tube dress at Takashimaya S.C. as well as a pair of Nose’s silver 2 inch wedges during my trip to Mid Valley , KL. As for Leonard, sorry to say that he didn’t managed to buy a new pair of shoes because he couldn’t find any shoes either in Singapore or KL that meet his requirement the most. Haha.. but of course new shirt and new pants is a must! Initially he even planned to use his not-so-old formal shirt and pants for the occasion but I stopped him from that because I don’t want him to regret in future and accuse me as the one who always torture him, see, such a good wife I am! :-p

Our journey back to Kuching for R.O.M. was tiring.
29 Jan 2010 8:30pm, we flew off from Changi Terminal 2 to LCCT Kuala Lumpur and overnight at Tune Hotel Sepang.
30 Jan 2010 5am, we woke up and went to the airport next to our hotel with the cloth that we wore to bed last night! Eeeewwww, I swear I will never do this again, never I will!
30 Jan 2010 7.50am, we flew off from LCCT Kuala Lumpur and finally we reached Kuching at 9.30 am.

The first thing we did after arrived Kuching was heading to look for my favourite food – Sarawak Laksa! Although we are sort of time but this is the second important mission to accomplish. After that, I went back home to enjoy my bath and put myself on with the silver dress and of course, make up, put on fake eyelashes and wear the silver color nail extension to make myself look dolly and elegance. The princess look is yet to be completed without a proper hair do. I had no idea what to do with my digital perm hair but wait, I have money in my wallet! Before heading to the registra office, papa drove me to a saloon at BDC and finally ugly Claire has transformed to Princess Claire!

30 Jan 2010 2pm, both of us signed on the marriage cert and this is where the story of Mr and Mrs Wong began.
